The border region of Groningen and Ostfriesland have a shared history. For example the first battles of the Dutch War of Independence. There are a lot of villages and musea related to this history worth a visit.

Acquaint people with the history of the border region. Show the link between the history and different places and musea. Inform people who visit a place or museum of the related places and musea in the neighboorhood.
We picked three important stories which took place in the sixteenth and seventeenth century and had an enormous impact in the region. We linked these stories to the related places. These places offer visitors so-called ‘lieux de mémoire’, musea and cycle/walking tours.
We have absolutely one history, and it is nice that together we can present it to the world.
