introduction

The hospitals in the Netherlands reached a voluntary agreement ‘Safe use of medical technology in the hospital’. Part of the agreement is the promise of each hospital to educate en certify their medical personnel in the use of their medical technology. The surgeon needs to know how to put the hospital bed in a position suitable for CPR when a patient crashes in a hartbeat. A nurse needs to know how to use a new syringe pump to administrate the right amount of a drug. New Music Labs asked me to help them in the development of an app to reach this goal.

strategy

Give the users the tools to educate themselves and get certified. Give them the control of the planning to go through the tutorials and complete the tasks set to complete for certification.
Using a smart phone is ideal for this scenario. A nurse who needs a certification to use an hospital bed can go the skills center. Get her hands on the medical device she needs to get acquainted with.

design

The user can start or resume with the course of a device, see when a certification expires or correct the mistakes in the tasks they made for a device.

Course Status

To get certified for a device the user needs to take an exam. This exam can consist of different tasks. e.g. open answer questions, multiple choice and taking pictures of performed tasks.
